Altxonbide: Bidania-Goiatz – Zaldibia

The shepherds take the sheep up to the higher pastures in May and bring them down in October to more temperate areas, always in search of the best pastures.

This great route (GR) links Lizarrusti, on the border between Gipuzkoa and Navarre, with Zarautz, on the coast of Gipuzkoa, following ancient shepherds' paths. This is what Altxonbide means: the Shepherds' Way.

Along its route, the path links the following protected sites: Aralar Natural Park (Lizarrusti), Hernio-Gazume ZEC, Pagoeta Natural Park and Iñurritza Protected Biotope (Zarautz).arautz).
