Zizurkil is made of two areas: Herrigunea, the rural part which is located on top of a hill, with various dispersed farmhouses; and Elbarrena, on the lower side, on the industrial area, opposite Villabona, which is located crossing river Oria.

The church in Zizurkil resembles a large fortress. Barroque style, from the 16th century, with a sole nave and groin vaults. Worth mentioning the wooden atrium, one of the most beautiful in Gipuzkoa. Used to be the graveyard up until 1687, before transforming into a small fronton court.

The 2m tall steel scupture called ‘Baserriko Argia’ (farmhouse light), by Juan Gorriti, emphasises women’s importance on rural life. Located on top of a hill, from there we can enjoy a lovely view of Zizurkil and Aiztondo valley.

TownHall

Elegant symmetical building. Built in masonry in the 18th century, with a square floor, a beautiful three arched arcade and a large coat of arms on the facade. The cobble stone square used to be the place where stone dragging competitions would take place.

Dominated by San Millan church, surrounded by majestic farmhouses: the Rectory or Eliz Gain, Etxeberri, Iriarte or Portxeta. Also worth mentioning San Millan or Donemiliaga Reinassance tower, from 1470, with medieval elements on the facade.

Fraisoro

Group buildings that due to their activity have been very important to the village. In one of them the first Model House for professional training and agricultural testing. Another building housed the Casa Cuna of Gipuzkoa, an orphanage. Nowadays they serve different purposes, such as a geriatrics centre, a centre for people with disabilities, a laboratory and a professional training school for stockbreeding, forestry, rural area management, gardening and floristry.

Atxulondoruins

Located at Abalotz cliff, in the protected area around Asta and Atxulondo streams, quite far from the centre of the village. There used to be an iron forge, which was first mentioned in 1470. Nowadays only the ruins remain. You can know more about it thanks to this route.
