From this village’s privileged position there are excellent views of the surrounding mountains, such as Txindoki and Aralar Mountain Range, Aizkorri, Hernio massif, Otsabio and Uzturre mountains or the nearby village of Baliarrain.

Square

Located between old farmhouses and new detached houses, the town hall building stands out. The facade is one of the best neoclassical style works in Gipuzkoa. Built in the 19th century in limestone dressed stone. Below its archs the local restaurant or ostatu is located. Very close to it the fronton court, a multipurpose court and a children’s payground can be found.

Church

Andra Mari church –Asuncion parish church–, stands out thanks to its size compared to the surroundings, making it visible from the distance. Designed by architect Martin Carerra in 1774, although it has elements from the 16th century.

SanSebastianchapel

The first reference to the chapel is from 1556, in a document of Gracia de Lizarribar’s will. It also included that she’d give a real (former type of currency) to the town hall in order to have a candle lit in her honour at the chapel. On January 20th a pilgrimage takes place.

Orendain’smill

Despite being located on the top of a hill, Orendain used to have two mills. Ibiur mill is nowadays below the water of reservoir of the same name. The other mill, which uses Amezketa river’s water, is still operating milling corn and wheat for its sale.
