A hidden village, surrounded by greenery

A winding road through the trees leads to Gaztelu, nestled between meadows and hills and dotted with farmhouses, where the essence of rural Gipuzkoa is preserved. There are theories that indicate that there used to be a castle here -which is why it adopted the name Gaztelu, Basque for castle- but there is no evidence.

An easy route that starts in the village square takes us through the woods to the picnic area of the Uli hut, halfway between Berastegi, Orexa and Navarre. This was formerly the site of the Mikeletes house.
