During the year different special markets take place, some of them directly linked to certain products: peppers, beans, T-bone steak, mushrooms, sweets or bream. These are great chances to see, smell, buy and of course, enjoy the best of our cuisine.

Tree day
2024. January 27th
Tolosa.
Besides the usual market, garden centres from all parts of Euskal Herria display all kinds of trees, bushes, plants and seeds: from fruit trees to forest plants such as beech or oak and decorative plants.

Be! Pastoral Culture Weekend
2024. March 1-3
Berastegi
Berastegi is a landscape that is the result of grazing. In this festival you can visit the shepherds’ huts, cheese tasting, cheese and wool workshops for boys and girls, a fair, music, visits to a cheese factory and a tour of pastoral culture.

Aralar pastures opening
Abaltzisketa.
The first day of May is an important and festive day in Larraitz. Around 20,000 animals go up to the pastures in Aralar Natural Park. Besides the continuous animal parade, there are artisan product stands, txikitixa and bertsos.

2024. May 16-19
Tolosa.
The meat and great festival, where the txuleta (T-bone steak) is the main product. Grill chefs from all around the world prepare different types of roasted meat and serve it in plates. Tinglado building becomes a big dining area where the traditional txuleta menu can be tasted, thanks to Tolosa’s carveries.

Cider Championship

As part of San Juan festivities, the prestigious cider contest takes place, where around 20 cider houses take part. There’s the chance of tasting all the ciders, as well as cider chorizo and cod pintxos.
White Wine Festival

The White Wine Fair is an opportunity to taste different wines together with pintxos.

Ibarra pepper festival
This year, 2024, it will not be celebrated.
Ibarra.
Festival dedicated to chili pepper and other types of pepper, such as Ezpeleta, although you will find all kinds of food and handcraft. At the gastronomic contest each participant prepares Gilda pintxo and other types of pintxos with the chili pepper as main ingredient.

Txakoli Festival

Amasa, Villabona.
Txakolin Eguna –Txakoli Day– takes place in Amasa neighbourhood, where around 30 wineries specialised in txakoli wine meet. The txakoli tasting is usually done with pintxos.

Tolosa Goxua, Sweets Festival

Tolosa.
An event that gathers Euskal Herria’s main traditional sweet producers: cakes, pies, sponge cakes, chocolate, chocolates… Tolosa’s traditional bakeries –Eceiza, Gorrotxategi, Gozona and Saizar– give a special treat to customers.

Esneki – Special Dairy Fair

Tolosa
Cheese lovers, you have an unmissable date in Tolosa.
It is a gastronomic event around dairy products, especially cheese.
A program that welcomes all types of activities; cooking courses with dairy products, XV. Euskadi Championship of Friesian Cows, cheese tasting… Although the main interest of this fair is focused on the Esneki Championship, a championship of cheeses and dairy products of all kinds produced in Euskal Herria. The competition will be divided into ten categories and the jury will evaluate the organoleptic characteristics of each product: appearance, texture, flavor, smell and its general rating.

Bean Festival
2024. November 16th
Tolosa.
Big day in Tolosa. Besides the special market, the best bean of the year and the best black pudding making are awarded. Euskal Jaia, Basque Festival, takes place on the same day, with group of friends eating ‘alubiada’ (beans with side dishes) –while wearing traditional costumes–, concerts and a great atmosphere everywhere. On Sunday a popular ‘alubiada’ takes place.

A few days before Christmas the Christmas market takes place, a market that has many types of stands: sweets, cold meats, canned food, pâtés, cheese, drinks, pickled food, hadcrafts… The great atmosphere is guaranteed.
