Tolosaldea is, without a doubt, one of the gastronomic hearts of Euskadi. Both for the fair that is held every Saturday, and for the gastronomic products that characterize us, for the gastronomic knowledge preserved and transmitted in the kitchens of the farmhouses, for agriculture, livestock, for hospitality professionals… The reason is not one and only, surely Tolosaldea maintains its gastronomic value by combining many of these circumstances.

Tolosa, as the capital of the region, hosts the most important weekly fair (not the only one) and the center of commerce. For this reason, it organizes special fairs around our star products in autumn. These fairs not only attract a large local audience, but also attract many visitors. Since they all combine, a special product fair, some children’s activities, some tasting areas and the great atmosphere on Saturdays that Tolosa always offers.

Sweets, dairy products, beans and Christmas delicacies will occupy the square in the coming months, here are the dates, more information of interest so that you can write them down in your diary and pay us a visit.



MIKOLOGIKA

Mushrooms are the main attraction at this autumn fair.

In the Plaza del Triángulo at Tolosa you will find pintxos prepared with different types of mushrooms, an exhibition by the Aranzadi society, workshops for children and live music.

October 19th

TOLOSAGOXUA

This year marks the 31st anniversary of the sweetest fair in Tolosa. At this festival, Tolosa’s pastry chefs act as hosts, as pastry chefs from all over the Basque Country come to the festival. Each year they choose a sweet or cake as the star of the festival.

On this day, in addition to the Saturday fair, you will find a special sweets fair in the Plaza del Triángulo, where the pastry chefs from Tolosa will distribute the sweets they have prepared among the attendees.

ESNEKI

This will be the third edition of Esneki. A special fair dedicated to the different cheeses and dairy products produced in the Basque Country beyond Idiazabal cheese (which is also included of course).

In addition to being a meeting point for the sector, a large dairy fair for those visiting Tolosa, the Basque Country cheese championship, activities for families, guided cheese tastings, a Friesian cow championship…

TOLOSABEANDAY

This is one of the great days in Tolosa. It has become a day for groups of friends and families to meet up, a festival to promote this wonderful product. At the special fair, in addition to beans, you will find all the products we need to cook a bean stew (blood sausage, cabbage, chorizo, piparras from Ibarra…), there is also a competition for the best bean producer and a bean gastronomic competition, and of course, the Basque festival.

You will see many people from Tolosa dressed in traditional Basque costumes and they will all enjoy a bean stew at midday. If you have to come, reserve your bean stew as soon as possible so you don’t run out of space.

Other Special Fairs


But the list of Tolosaldea’s autumn fairs does not end there. Many other special fairs will be held during the months of October, November and December throughout Tolosaldea. There you will find artisanal and other local products that you will not find anywhere else.
