Six cider houses produce cider in Tolosaldea, all of them family-run. Most of them offer the possibility of buying cider at the cider houses themselves. There are also shops that sell more cider under the Euskal Sagardoa label.
Ciders with a red capsule on the neck of the bottle are those made with local apples with the Euskal Sagardoa denomination of origin. The same capsule, if it is golden, is a Premium category cider. Those with black capsules, on the other hand, are called Gorenak. These are high quality ciders, but not necessarily made from local apples. Each brand normally produces more than one type of cider.
Lately, several cider makers have jointly marketed a new concept of cider, Musker, made from 100% native apples, which is sold in small bottles.
