Hernialdeko Ostatua, grilled fish

It attracts people from all over the region in search of delicious grilled fish.

At 300 metres above sea level - and 5 kilometres from Tolosa - is the ostatu run by Bobi and Rosco.

It is one of those traditional restaurants, with a white tablecloth and a dining room with a fireplace, offering a wide variety of local produce ranging from vegetables to meat, fish and desserts.

Good location

Located in the main square of the village, in the historic building that also houses the town hall, it offers the best of each season to all those who come to visit. They work closely with local producers and small businesses in the surrounding area.

The extensive menu consists of starters, salads, fish, meat, desserts and ice cream. One of the star dishes is, however, off the menu. It is the crepes stuffed with tender garlic, prawns and spinach with asparagus sauce.

People come to ostatu knowing what they want. Grilled fish. They don’t specialise in any particular fish, but the success of the Orio style sea bream and turbot with refried fish, for example, stands out.

The dessert menu is also prepared in-house, by the chefs themselves. Pantxineta and cheesecake are the most popular desserts. They claim to have no secrets other than well-worked recipes based on repetition.

With instinct and habit, they have managed to develop extensive menus that they maintain with care and perseverance. There are different menus for groups and celebrations, offering different dishes to choose from per person.
