The real machine
Animated sculpture has a long and extensive history. Human beings have always been seduced by a figure that reproduces – even minimally – some action or movement sufficient to appear to exist an “anima” or life. This is the reason why the magic of animated figures has been used, from the most ancient civilizations to the present day.

In the peninsula we enjoy the fortune of having a wide and increasingly better documented history of this genre in which manifestations of different nature coexist that we group under the term Figure Theater, covering a much broader field than the so-called Puppet Theater, since it includes corporeal figures that participated in symbolic, liturgical ceremonies, celebrations and public shows, as well as in the theater of times before the 17th century.

The mission of La Maquina Real is to delve into the roots of classical theater, study it and value it, creating links with the past to revitalize the future of the contemporary scene. Select, study and stage a repertoire of classic works that are timeless due to their content and form.

Schedule:

Weekdays: 10:00-13:00 and 16:00-19:00. From June 15 to September 15 10:00-14:00 and 15:30-19:30

Weekends and holidays: 10:00-14:00 and 15:30-19:30
